Solo Badwater to Whitney via Horseshoe Meadows
I will be travelling on foot from Badwater to Mt. Whitney beginning 9/15/08. Hope to be the first to ascend Whitney up the west side - 180 miles or so.
I'm a backpacker - not an ultramarathoner - so i will be slow and will stop at motels. Might use a baby jogger ala Scott Weber to carry food and drink but might also accept some support from my wife Patty. TBD - will report after trip!
It'll take me a little over a week if all goes well.
Thank you Ben Jones, Scott Weber, and Martin Ulrich for encouragement and information and special thanks to Marcia Rasmussen for answering all my questions and for her willingness to support a nontraditional crossing! (Just so everybody knows - it's not a belt attempt! Maybe next year!

Well, I guess by now you've already begun. I'm sorry to say that John and I won't make it out to Death Valley during your Crossing. I'm still sore enough from recent surgery that I cannot travel much. Sorry about that, because I had really hoped to meet and congratulate you.
In any case, I wish you safety, success, and a wonderful adventure. Please do share the story with us!
