Im not sure what I'm doing yet as everything is in the discussion stage with others, but feel free to contact me privately and we can discuss exactly what you'll need from crew on the 1st.
Another forum member who has finished the race is planning to apply for next year and I am tentatively planning to crew him on the 31st. If this pans out and he still needs me to crew him, I will not be available on the 1st. But of course we won't know for certain for a few months what will happen.

Chicagoland weather has been mild so far this year. This past weekend had relatively warm temps (Sunday was 60) and despite some rain, it's been really pleasant. We're expecting a mild Winter this year.
My guess is it's warmer where you are in CA?

It'd been very fair until last week. I live just outside Yosemite Park and we're finally getting some rain and the snow is coming down to the 6,000 foot level. Night temp's go below freezing and the days are in the low 50's. Absolutely beautiful, actually!
In which part of the Chicago area do you live? I was born in Chicago 52+ years ago, Northwest side. I grew up at Wrigley. I'm none-the-less jazzed for the Sox. And what's with 'Da Bears!
You live in a beautiful part of the country. I was stationed at El Toro MCAS in Santa Ana, CA in the eighties and simply loved CA. Since the Corps, I haven't been back to CA except last year to enjoy the Humboldt Marathon along that magical Avenue of the Giants, which was the first time I had the opportunity to touch a Redwood.
Next year I'm doing the Hood-to-Coast Relay for the first time and just adore the PNW, a very different landscape from Chicago.
I've lived in many parts of Chicago; Streeterville, Wrigleville, Lincoln Park a mile from the zoo, and most recently, Andersonville. Always been a northsider at heart and love those Cubbies but been to many Sox games when it was still Comiskey Park and a few times since it's become The Cell. Like you, I'm as happy for them as I would be if it was the Cubs - or any team, for that matter.
I now live in south suburban Chicago. Have many relatives in Mt. Prospect, Des Plaines, as well as the southern burbs like Palos - as well as Gary and other NW Indiana communities.
Yeah, what's with those Bears? Feel badly for Brien but business is business and if he didn't disclose his injury as alleged by the Bears...Anyway, I'm lovin' it because I have a soft spot in my heart for those fellas - my father's cousins played for Chicago and Detroit and above all other sports venues, Soldier Field has a special place in my heart: my greatest memories are of being with my father there.
Happy Running,

I never saw the Bears in Soldiers Field, I had moved to Las Vegas by then. It was cool (actually freezing) and intimate when they played at Wrigley. By the way, did you see how much Konerko just signed for??!! Absolutely amazing!
What was your MOS in "The Corps"? I was a Navy HM, stationed with the grunts (FMF - HooRah) in the early 70's. Da Nang, Combat Action Ribbon, etc. Have you seen Jarhead yet? I read the book first and liked that much better, although the movie was pretty realistic (in some cases, unfortunately!)
Hello Ms. Tramp,
I'm new to the forum - just signed up. A buddy and I will be starting on July 1st and hope to go all the way up Whitney, permits permitting.
Please share with us your availability and we'll discuss more. Sounds great, thanks so much!
Hope you had a nice holiday!

E.D.,
Pardon the error. In my previous post to you I referred to the official starting date of the 24th as the 31st.
