Getting back on track -- Solo in 2007?
Hi all,
I haven't posted for a while. After getting "sidetracked," I have gotten myself focused back on my real goal -- running the Badwater course. Work and life are likely going to make it very hard for me to get into the official race in the relatively near term. So, I am turning my attention toward a solo.
Question: Even though we have not even made it through the summer of 2006, is there anyone out there looking toward a solo in 2007? I want to make this my target. If there are others out there looking towards this also, please post. Perhaps we can start the ball rolling.
It is getting nice and warm in SoCal now, finally. I'm looking forward to some hot weather running and a visit to DV soon.

Good to see you again, Pirate!
I don't have a clue yet what I'm doing in 2007, but maybe you can stir up some interest.

Hi Marcia. Thanks for the reply. I'm not expecting a big rush on such long term planning. I figure a few people might be thinking like me -- This summer it is just not going to happen, so next year will be it!
More soon.
Pirate,
I am also going to run Badwater someday. Won't happen this year. Can't say it will happen in 2007 because a lot of things have to come together for me to be able to spend a week out west. I don't care if I run the "Official" run or not. I know it will be easier on me to do it on my schedule. Anyway, I will keep in touch through this forum. Cheers and happy running!

Hi Pirate,
I am seriously looking into tying a solo in 2007. I am new to this site and I look forward to making new friends and getting information. I have thought about trying this for several years but have persued other endeavors. Most I have completed a few I had to shut er down for another day.
I am excited about researching this event, its history, its challenges and its people.Even if I don't try the run I would hope to be on a crew some day. Look forward to communicating with you all.

Hi Spiritextreme,
You will probably find that many of the runners who do solo crossings in 2006 will do it again in 2007. It gets in your bones.
But whenever you hope to do it, feel free to jump right in. I hope that many of the 2006 people will post there stories here for you to read.

Thanks for posting back. Several of you are just about ready to give it a try or another try. From what I have read there are a few of you getting started on July 1st. Good luck and I will anxiously await to hear all about it.
Being from Arizona I have the opportunity to run in severe heat just about every day in the summer if I chose to. Training in the heat is very familar to me. One thing is it never seems to get any easier. I imagine you acclimate somewhat to it but for the distances you all are setting out for, it takes alot more than acclimation.
I tell you what, my hat is off to all of you that have made the Trek across the desert it is real tough. My best wishes to all of you preparing for your first time. I hope to be one of you next year. Good LUCK and may the force be with you all. Don't forget to have fun. You are all awsome!
