alternate date for 2007 solo?

I've applied to the Western States lottery. WS is June June 23, and some people have planned to run a Badwater Solo on July 1. If I get into WS, there's no way on earth I'm going to do a Solo the following weekend! I wonder if there are others who might have this conflict. I might consider doing a Solo in late August (finances permitting). Is anyone else interested in doing it then, or at any other time within the July/August window?

I'm open to a later date than July 1st.
I'm tentatively planning to travel out there with someone who is also in the same predicament and if she makes the lottery and runs WS, we'll go with a later date, leaning toward sometime in August.
Frankly, even before possibly working around WS was a factor, I've leaned toward a later date anyway since I want the conditions to be similar to the Kiehl's race and the temp is a bit lower in the first week of July.
Is the temp also a bit lower in late August than in late July, and by about how much?

Yeah, Juli and I talked about maybe doing it in August if we get into WS.
Anyway, I'm not so sure it's any cooler on July 1st. Last year it was 125+. I think ALL of July and August are pretty similar in temperature. You have some day-to-day variation with weather patterns, but by then it's about as hot as it's going to be.
LOL! Listen to you...worrying about whether it's HOT ENOUGH...in Death Valley...in August! ;D

Well, I didn't get into WS, so it looks like I'll be doing the July 1st Solo Crossing.
I see that Juli didn't get in either. It'll be a nice family reunion in Death Valley, then!

I'm looking so very forward to being in Death Valley next year again and seeing you and John again and being there with Juli. It's only November and I'm already in race mode, planning for it!
